Hey girl, Welcome back! One of the toughest challenges that couples face when budgeting for their wedding, is accessing the value. Your need and want for an item or experience and how much money you will pay for it, represent the value that it has, for you. Wedding planning (the weeds of it all), is truly about pulling out your values as a couple and deciding the must have for weddings.
All of the wrapped monogram floors, multi-tiered gold plated wedding cakes and multiple Pantora gowns have you in your feelings. You want it ALL, PERIODT! I do not begrudge brides of their wants on her special day. If we can budget for it and it makes visual and logistical sense, then I’m down for you girl. I will, however, always push back on my couples to access not the cost of the item, but the value that it brings to the day.
At its core, budgeting is not so much about money than it is valued and that is all you are looking for. Accessing value takes skill in this industry, so my suggestion is that you always hire a planner first, a good one might I add. Your planner will be able to access your must have for weddings and your goals for the event and will be able to execute them within budget and on par with your vision. If you fall in love with a photographer over our allocated budget, I am going to ask you what value he or she brings to the table for you and your day. If the reasoning and the value make sense, then we will make the $ follow. So yes, you do love it and is it a must have for your wedding?
